Toni Bou se impone en una prueba de gran dificultad, en la que Takahisa Fujinami abandona por accidente.

Carlisle (Reino Unido), 16.05.2009.- Toni Bou (Montesa Cota 4RT) ha incrementado su ventaja como líder del Campeonato del Mundo de Trial después de haberse impuesto este sábado en la primera jornada del Gran Premio de Gran Bretaña, cuarta prueba puntuable. El actual campeón del mundo ha logrado las mejores puntuaciones en las dos vueltas a un recorrido al que la lluvia intermitente ha incrementado el nivel de dificultad.

Takahisa Fujinami (Montesa Cota 4RT) ha sufrido una caída en la primera vuelta (zona 13), de la que ha resultado con un fuerte traumatismo en la zona torácica que ha obligado a su inmediato traslado a un centro sanitario, donde en estos momentos está siendo atendido por los servicios médicos. Fujinami ocupaba la quinta plaza en la clasificación general del mundial y con su abandono de hoy ha perdido dos posiciones.

Toni Bou: “En primer lugar, envío un mensaje de ánimo para mi compañero, al que deseo se recupere lo antes posible. El de hoy ha sido un trial muy exigente bajo todos los puntos de vista y en el que he tenido a Adam siempre cerca, demostrando una vez más que está muy fuerte. Ganar en estas condiciones es aún más satisfactorio. Mañana será otro día, trataré de repetir de nuevo en lo más alto del podio y seguir sumando, paso a paso, unos puntos que tienen un gran valor”.

Mañana se disputará en el mismo lugar la quinta prueba puntuable para el Campeonato del Mundo, en la que Toni Bou defenderá su liderato. Paralelamente, Laia Sanz (Montesa Cota 4RT) iniciará en Krzeszowice (Polonia) una nueva edición del Campeonato de Europa de Trial para féminas, certamen en el que acredita siete títulos, todos consecutivos.

Toni Bou logra su cuarto triunfo consecutivo y Takahisa Fujinami roza el podio.

Carlisle (Reino Unido), 17.05.2009.- Excelente fin de semana para Toni Bou (Montesa Cota 4RT) en el Gran Premio de Gran Bretaña de Trial, donde este domingo ha repetido victoria en una prueba de gran intensidad deportiva. Con este triunfo, el cuarto consecutivo en la presente edición del Campeonato del Mundo, Toni Bou ha incrementado a 9 puntos su ventaja como líder de la general. Takahisa Fujinami (Montesa Cota 4RT), que ayer abandonó con una fuerte contusión torácica tras una caída, ha quedado a un solo punto del podio y ha contribuido a un nuevo triunfo de Montesa en la clasificación de marcas. Las dos próximas pruebas del mundial se disputarán en Motegi (Japón) los días 6 y 7 de junio.

Toni Bou: “Estoy contentísimo con esta victoria, que nos ha hecho sufrir bastante. Hemos tenido problemas con la moto que me han hecho estar incómodo durante la primera vuelta pero los hemos resuelto. Y en el segundo giro he cometido un error absurdo que me ha costado cinco puntos y me ha obligado a afinar al máximo hasta el final. Dos triunfos en un mismo fin de semana y sus correspondientes puntos son, sin duda, el mejor balance posible”.

Takahisa Fujinami: “Después del fuerte golpe de ayer, creo que no podía pedir más. He competido bastante dolorido y además he abierto las zonas, que siempre supone un inconveniente. En estas condiciones, es satisfactorio haber terminado a un solo punto del podio. Ahora ya pienso en las dos próximas pruebas, en mi país, y espero estar en las mejores condiciones para intentar romper la racha de Toni”.

Dougie Lampkin

Dougie Lampkin recorded an emphatic third place on the opening day of the British Grand Prix and doing so moved up to fifth in the overall standings. Urged on every inch of the way by a noisy home crowd, Lampkin responded almost like he use to and gave his many fans much to cheer about as he fought his way on to the podium.

Whilst heavy rain had been widely predicted, this never actually materialised and the water overhead was limited to just a few light showers. Dougie looked very much at home on the often-slippery sandstone rocks and found himself in second place after the first eight sections on the opening lap. A five at the all but impossible tenth section did little to dampen his assault, but two further failures right at the end of lap left Dougie in joint third come the punchcard change.

Lampkin maintained his form during the early part of his second lap to move into a clear third place, as the thirty-three old continued to use all his experience to carve out his best result for over a year. Again it was the latter sections that cost Dougie most dearly, but despite these losses he managed to come home seven marks clear of his younger rival James Dabill.

The ex multi World champion last visited the podium at the final round of the 2007 series in Andorra. Dougie's best result last season was fourth spot on no less than five occasions.

"Apart from a few mistakes in the last few sections each lap, I am very happy with the way I have ridden today. Right from the word go I felt both strong and confident and that is something I was pleased to maintain right through the trial. Too many times recently I have started well and then faded. It felt good to be back on the podium, especially in front of my home fans."

Dougie Lampkin produced a fantastic closing lap on the second day of the Grand Prix of Great Britain to rescue fifth place come the finish. The veteran campaigner endured a difficult opening lap and languished down in eighth spot after the morning session. Over night changes to five of the hazards produced a tougher test on day two, and one that Dougie struggled to get to grips with as early as section two.

With his podium finish just twenty-four hours earlier still fresh in his mind, Dougie fought his way back into contention with the help of the home crowd who responded noisily to efforts on each and every occasion. However Lampkin's assault on another top three placing was soon to come to an end as the thirty-three old notched up three more failures in the last six sections, including a spectacular crash in section thirteen where he was lucky to escape injury.

Angry with himself, Dougie really attacked the second lap, and remained feet up through the first seven hazards on his final attempt. A dab in section eight was his first loss of the lap, and only a five at the ultra difficult tenth section spoilt what otherwise was a near perfect performance. Lampkin's closing tally of ten marks hoisted him up to a respectable fifth spot come the finish.

Dougie has now moved within a point of fourth place in the overall standings, after three out of eight rounds. Lampkin commented. "This morning was an absolute disaster, I never hit anything hard enough and each time it ended in a five. Thankfully I managed to turn things around on the second lap with some much better riding. Fifth is not too bad, but another podium place was here for the taking today. Overall it has not been a bad weekend, especially in terms of the championship. Finally I want to thank the crowd as they have been right behind me throughout the weekend."

James Dabill, Team JST GAS GAS UK had his best ever World Trials Championship results todate at the weekends British Round of the 2009 World Trials Championship

James had a fantastic 4th place on Saturday and although happy he was still frustrated to 'give' the final podium position to Dougie Lampkin after two daft fives on the second lap.

Dibs started the weekend with superb form on the Friday morning practice session which was proof to me that he had worked hard in the week getting back into WTC mode after the SSDT. I think with James' not winning the Scottish had fired him up for the World Round. Also his superb Minder Jack Lee booted his ass into gear and went out training with him.

After he stamped his authority in the practice area a confident Dabill started Saturday well. He breezed through the opening sections very confidently (joint leader with Boni Tou after section 5!) until section 6 where he fived the final climb ;-(
Some solid rides together with two more fives (one acceptable on 10) on the opening lap saw Dibs matching Dougie with a score of 20, joint with Doug in 3rd....game on!

Dibs' second lap started well enough until he fived section 6 again which rattled him because he wasnt sure why. (doug had a dab each lap here). We calmed him down and he cleaned 7 with ease.

The GG sponsored section 8 was his biggest mistake where he rushed the end, went for a daft jump and landed on his ass...Colley style!

Dibs was rattled again but kept his head well with a run of good rides to the finish including a superb ride on section 13 where he blitzed the really hard steep exit on his Factory Kev prepped Gasser.
A mature 'gonna go for a dab' ride on the final section which was maturely ridden was enough the beat Cabestany by one mark to finish 4th. ALL HAPPY! Dibs promised me a top 5 and he went one better! Top 3 now !!!!

Day 2 started well with two confident cleans. They changed section 3 and Dibs veered off line at the end because of rushing and a quick 5.

He cleaned 4 with ease. The final climb at 5 which he breezed the previous day was now tricky because the club had removed the kickers. Dibs probably over did his technique and another quick five. (The nature of the Trial forced many quick fives for everyone).
His bogey section of Saturday was next but after a long study he managed it for a needed one dab ride. 7 easy but a frustrating 3 dab ride on 8 was poor. Cleaned 9 easy and then a FANTASTIC 2 mark ride on the near impossible section 10 got him fired up. A good run to the end of the lap finishing on 22 in 4th place again, one ahead of Jeroni and 4 ahead of Doug.

Lap two Dibs was still commited and pushing for the podium. He fived section 3 again which spoilt a fantastic lap of 16. He was safe in 6th but we waited for Doug who needed to a lap of 10 to beat him......and guess what Doug had a lap of 10! We all sulked off back to the paddock but soon realised that Dabill had another good day and we had no reason to be down. For James to be slightly down with 6th place was good to see because this showed hunger for higher.

James showed me maximum commitment this weekend and im happy. I think with more hard training a new special ????? from Factory Kev coming soon will see Dibs on that elusive WTC PODIUM!

Sam Haslam had a weekend of bad fives and finished 7th both days.
Ross Danby had a bad Day one finishing 13th but bounced back well on Sunday to finish 5th !
