Toni Bou sube de nuevo al podio y llegará a la recta final del campeonato como líder, con 12 puntos de ventaja.

Sant Julià de Lòria (Andorra), 28.06.2009.- Toni Bou (Montesa Cota 4RT) ha concluido en tercera posición el Gran Premio de Andorra de Trial, antepenúltima prueba puntuable para el Campeonato del Mundo, disputado este domingo. El piloto de Montesa llegará a la recta final del certamen como líder de la clasificación general y con 12 puntos de ventaja sobre su rival más inmediato. Takahisa Fujinami (Montesa Cota 4RT) ha finalizado cuarto, viendo interrumpida su racha de tres segundas posiciones consecutivas. El japonés ha reforzado la tercera plaza que ocupa en la general. Montesa sigue dominando la clasificación de marcas, apartado en el que apunta directamente al que sería su duodécimo título.

Laia Sanz (Montesa Cota 4RT), que ayer se impuso en este mismo escenario en la primera cita de una nueva edición del Campeonato del Mundo de Trial Femenino, ha concluido hoy décima entre los participantes en la categoría júnior, categoría en la que Alfredo Gómez (Montesa) ha logrado el triunfo.

Toni Bou: “Doce puntos de ventaja son una buena renta a falta de dos pruebas que serán transcendentales. Sé que subir al podio en cada una de ellas me bastaría para revalidar el título pero, obviamente, trataré de ganarlas. Considero que hoy no lo he hecho mal en esta y la lucha con Adam ha sido tan intensa como de costumbre, con una diferencia final mínima, pero Jeroni ha estado increíble y nos ha ganado”.

Takahisa Fujinami: “Mi resultado de hoy no ha tenido nada a ver con el de las tres pruebas anteriores. He hecho muchos errores y he salvado por la mínima diferencia la cuarta posición. De todas formas, el resultado no es del todo malo para la clasificación general, ya que mantengo el tercer lugar”.

El Campeonato del Mundo de Trial se reanudará el día 6 de septiembre en Tona (Barcelona) y concluirá una semana más tarde en Isola 2000 (Francia).

Dougie Lampkin

Dougie Lampkin narrowly missed out on recording his fourth, fourth place in a row as a single mark pushed him down to fifth spot at the Grand Prix of Andorra earlier today. Whilst still hampered by a hand injury sustained two weeks ago at an extreme enduro in Austria, Lampkin was once again battling with his younger counterparts at the top of the leaderboard for most of the trial.

The former multi World champion lost just a single dab in the first four watery zones before being halted by the steep and slippery climb in the fifth hazard. This early five was not a major set back as all but one rider failed at the same point.
The action then shifted to dry land, with the remainder of the sections being situated in the steep and dry wooded area just above the paddock, these being far from Dougie’s favourite type of test.

Despite the un-British conditions Lampkin maintained his fight and produced stunning rides in sections twelve and thirteen on the first lap, which were only bettered by eventual winner Fajardo. A mechanical problem in section ten and a mistake in the penultimate section brought two fives that added heavily to Dougie’s score to put him in joint fourth at the punchcard change. A similar second lap would see the veteran campaigner finish a single mark away from another fourth spot.

Despite dropping to sixth in the series, Lampkin is now just two points off fourth place in the overall standings. “ I have ridden OK despite the trial not really being up my street. I was good in the river both laps and held my own on the dry stuff too. Two fives in section fourteen and the one when the bike misfired were disappointing and soon pushed up my score. In terms of my hand, it is very sore and with the punishment it has been given today, it is pretty much back to square one again. Hopefully with the summer break, I can be fully fit and back in the hunt for the final two rounds.” Lampkin explained.

JAMES DABILL, Team JST GGUK Rider has just finished 6th at the World Trial in Andorra...

He was very impressive yesterday and rode confidently infront of his main championship rivals. The course was again quite long and time was again an issue to finish the first lap in the 3 hour time limit which we timed perfectly to finish the lap with about 40 seconds to spare ;)

The first 4 sections were all up a very slippy stream which were all fairly steady for the top riders and dibs started well with three 'cleans'. A slack 'three' on section 4 were his first marks of the day which his main rivals cleaned.
The start of section 5 was a really awkward, steep and slippy back out of the stream and ALL the riders fived apart from Fuji who must have scrabbled up for a three.
We then went on another 'special test' to get to section 6 which was the first of the dry sections on the steep wooded hillside which was littered with big boulders.
James was impressive on all the remaining sections which he rode very confidently and really did look as good as anyone.
The hardest section 12 where Dibs fived twice was very 'hit and miss'. It was one of those sections where the gearing was not quite right, second was too low and third was too high. Dibs chose 3rd and admits he was maybe a bit too fast on both laps. Im pretty sure that he would have pissed up in second had he ridden it a bit slower..

So Dibs finished the first lap on 26 marks, five behind Doug and the same as Cabestany.....game on!

The second lap 'again' went well. He annoying 'fived' section 5 (but after the hard bit!!) where he spat a rock out in the stream. Nevertheless he kept his head and went on another roll from section 6 onwards. Dibs' technique on the Gasser was a joy to watch and in my eyes nobody looked better from sections 6 to 12....me happy ;)

So he finished the lap on 18 which was 8 better than his first and we waited for all the others to finish. Doug beat him on a most cleans tie-break which gutted him, then Fuji went only one better to beat both Doug and Dibs so his possible 4th place was soon demoted to 6th.
For me i was happy because James really was onfire yesterday and i must thank Jack and the GG Factory staff for getting his bike ready for the event.
ALL the bikes are underpowered in Andorra which is +2000m and the air is quite thin. Jack and the boys worked hard on the Friday to get Dibs' bike running VERY good with various carburation and cylinder head changes etc..

James is now 7th in the Championship on 86 points, ten infront of Marc Frexia in 8th. Doug is 6th but 18 points clear of Dibs so the plan is simply to keep pushing in Spain and France and see what happens....

Ross Danby JSTGG had his best WTC performance of the year finishing 4th in the Junior Class. Ross never gives in and deserves this fantastic 4th place beating the two TTT Beta boys, 'the new WORLD JUNIOR CHAMPION Alexz Wigg' and Jack Challoni.

On the Saturday was the first Round of the Womens WTC and a massive congratulations must go out to ACE GAS GAS rider Joanne Coles who finished on the podium behind Laia Sanz and Becky Cook. This was even more impressive because Joanne still has to ride a 125cc !!

Conrgats also to JSTGG Rider Emma Bristow who finished 7th and ACEGG rider Hannah Styles who scored a WTC point in 15th, WELL DONE!
