ADAM RAGA (GAS GAS) FINALIZA 2º EL TRIAL DE ITALIA

Erba (Italia), 1 de julio de 2007.– El piloto de GAS GAS, Adam Raga (GAS GAS TXT 300) ha finalizado hoy el Trial de Italia, séptima prueba puntuable para el Campeonato del Mundo de la especialidad que ha tenido lugar en Erba, en la segunda posición, sumando así de cara a la clasificación provisional, en la que ocupa idéntica plaza.

Los pilotos debían dar dos vueltas a un recorrido de 15 zonas. “Ha sido una carrera complicada, como suele ser habitual en el mundial. Había dos grupos de zonas, y en las que estaban situadas más arriba la moto no rendía tan bien como en las otras por la altura. En la primera vuelta he cometido errores pero en la segunda he podido realizar una mejor actuación”, comenta el piloto de GAS GAS.

En lo que se refiere al resto de categorías, el piloto británico de GAS GAS, Alexz Wigg, ha finalizado 4º en el mundial júnior. Wigg es 2º de la clasificación provisional, con 103 puntos, por detrás del líder Michael Brown, con 135, y por delante de Loris Gubian, 3º con 94 puntos. En la Youth Cup 125, Alfredo Gómez se ha hecho con el segundo escalón del podio a los mandos de su GAS GAS 125, mientras Ross Danby, con la misma montura, ha sido 3º. Gómez afianza así su primera plaza provisional, con 137 puntos, seguido de Ross Danby con 113, y de Alexis Cervantes con 103.

La próxima prueba del mundial de trial será el Trial de Polonia, 8ª cita puntuable, que se celebrará en Myslenice el próximo 8 de julio.

Victoria de Alfredo Gómez en el Europeo con una GAS GAS 125

También se disputaba este fin de semana, pero en la jornada del sábado, la tercera cita puntuable para el Campeonato de Europa de Trial, en la que ha vencido en el apartado Junior el piloto Alfredo Gómez, a los mandos de su GAS GAS 125. Le han secundado en el podio David Millán y Alexis Cervantes, 2º y 3º, respectivamente. Esta es la tercera victoria para el español, que con 60 puntos encabeza la clasificación provisional, seguido de Alexis Cervantes, con 45 puntos y el británico Danby Ross, también con GAS GAS, 3º con 43 puntos tras finalizar ayer en cuarta posición.

El Spea Tarrés Trial Team, también en Erba

La formación del siete veces Campeón del Mundo de Trial, Jordi Tarrés, ha estado presente también este fin de semana en Italia, de la mano del piloto de 16 años Francesc Moret (GAS GAS TXT Pro 125), que ha continuado su programa de formación en certámenes nacionales e internacionales de trial participando ayer en el Campeonato Europeo de Trial, donde finalizaba 21º en la categoría Júnior, y también en el apartado Youth 125 del mundial disputado hoy, en el que ha debutado terminando 12º. “Ha sido un fin de semana positivo”, declara Jordi Tarrés, “el segundo día ha ido mucho mejor que el primero, aunque lo importante aquí era el rodaje de Francesc y que pudiera ver el nivel de los pilotos en el mundial”.

Campeonato del Mundo de Trial. Italia 7ª prueba

Caldes de Montbui, 2 de julio de 2007. En su segunda participación en el campeonato del mundo, el estadounidense Patrick Smage, 16 años, logró una espectacular victoria en la categoría junior 125 en el Gran Premio de Italia. El componente del equipo Sherco RYP USA logró un triunfo sin apelativos, dominando las dos vueltas al recorrido con autoridad. Con este resultado Smage, habiendo participado tan solo en dos pruebas del mundial, se coloca en cuarta posición de la clasifi cación provisional del campeonato, justo por detrás del también piloto de Sherco Alexis Cervantes.

En la categoría absoluta, Albert Cabestany volvió a conquistar la quinta plaza, la misma que ocupa en la clasifi cación provisional del certamen, mientras Dani Oliveras optó hasta el último momento a la sexta plaza, pero tuvo que realizar las últimas zonas presionado por el tiempo, lo cual le hizo sumar más puntos y le llevó a la novena plaza fi nal, justo por delante de Cristhope Bruand. En la categoría junior, Loris Gubian también subió al podio la lograr la segunda plaza final. La próxima prueba del campeonato del mundo será en Polonia el domingo, 8 de julio.

Dougie Lampkin battled to a brave fourth place at today's Italian Grand Prix, with the thirty one year old Yorkshireman making his first competitive outing since he dislocated his finger at the previous round nearly a month ago. Lampkin always knew that it was going to be a difficult return as the injury has prevented him from practising for the last four weeks, which meant he was going to be slightly rusty on the bike and not at full fitness. There was no easy way back for Dougie, as the Italian round served up one of the toughest trials of the season to date.

Still showing signs of his injury Lampkin struggled his way around the first lap, and soon lost sight of the leading pack as he notched up five fives in the first nine sections and collected a further three maximums as he made his way to the punch card change. His total of forty marks left him down in sixth spot at the halfway point, just behind his team mate Takahisa Fujinami and fellow British rider James Dabill.

With only a salvaging exercise on the cards, Dougie produced a typically gritty closing performance to improve his second lap score by a substantial twelve marks compared to his morning showing, this was despite him having to fight with fatigue as the high temperature added to an already difficult day. Whilst someway off the eventual leading trio of Toni Bou, Adam Raga and Fujinami, Lampkin could at least find some satisfactory as he claimed fourth position just ahead of Albert Cabestany. Lampkin still holds fourth position in the overall standings, despite his recent injury.

Lampkin stated. "Having not ridden since I injured my finger in Japan, it was always going to be a difficult Grand Prix for me. This was made worse by the fact that it has been a really tough trial, even if I had been fully fit. My right hand is really tired and sore, as the other fingers have been compensating for the lack of grip I have in my damaged finger. At times it was difficult to just hang on, especially when you had to hit some of the stuff really hard and with full commitment. With another two rounds over the next two weeks, it is going to have to be a case of survival before anything else, so hopefully I can then be fully fit for my home GP."

James Dabill - Top Trial Team

James Dabill missed his opportunity to record a top five, and maybe even a top four placing at the 2007 FIM SPEA Trial World championship, when he eventually placed seventh at the Italian Grand Prix. Riding his Future TRW Montesa Cota 4RT, Dabill begun well at what he can now consider as his second home GP, but despite holding fifth spot at the halfway stage, his challenge faded during what was a 'disastrous' second lap for the young Tyke.

Dabill really put himself in the mix with a strong showing through the opening series of stream based sections, including a fantastic two dab ride in the third hazard, which was only bettered by eventual winner Bou and third position rider Fujinami. Although James had recorded no less than five maximums on his initial tour he closed with a series of four cleans to give himself a real chance of achieving his best ever World result.

With the high temperature still present the fifteen kilometre lap with its ultra tough sections was about to take its toll on Dabill as he suffered six failures in a row from section two through to seven. Whilst a clean ride at the eighth hazard was welcome relief, the joy was short lived as James recorded a further three fives on route to the finish.

A closing lap some eleven marks worse than his first lap score pushed James down to seventh, which was a disappointing finish to what had been a promising day for the twenty one year old from Leeds.

The small town of Erba, just North of Milan, and not so far way from the Future team's base in Bergamo produced one of the toughest rounds of the season to date, even for the front runners. Despite his latest result, Dabill has now closed within three points of Fajardo in the overall standings, with sixth position in the championship being James' next target.

"It's a poor result after I started so well, I knew I had had a good opening lap and that I was in with a real chance of a top five finish if I could keep up the same level of riding. However in the end, the second lap was nightmare, so I suppose I should be happy with seventh spot given the circumstances." Concluded Dabill.

Alexz Wigg

Junior World Trials Championship. Erba, Italy

Alexz Wigg again produced a good performance on the JST 125 Gas Gas pro Racing at the Italian round of the Junior WTC in the town of Erba close to the Alps. Most of the sections were under the wooded banks of a rocky stream. His performance was far from in the shade as he only missed out on a podium place after loosing a few extra marks at the top group of sections, which were very tough for the youngest rider on the 125.

He was in fact running a close second on lap 1 to series leader Michael Brown after 8 sections, where he suffered his first five of the day after having to take a new line to try to avoid the big step at the end which he felt was too much for the small bike. This didn’t work out and despite being one of only 3 cleans on section 12 the marks towards the end of this lap pushed him down the leader board leaving him with too much to do on the second lap.

A sensational clean on the second section (only the winner matched this), but a five in number 3 meant there was more to do, and the slight inconsistency continued as he managed the very difficult 5, 6 and 7 for only 3 and then proved the little bike can do it by getting up 8 for a dab. Despite some harsh observing and the severity of the sections Alexz stuck at it and kept his fourth place secure by two terrific rides in the last two indoor sections amazing the crowd by getting the screaming 125 up the big stuff!

A closing lap better than his first was not much of a consolation but his riding was so good in patches it was difficult for him to be disappointed ”thankfully the five I was given at 15 didn’t affect my overall result, but felt I was riding really well today. If I could have avoided some of the small errors I could have been in touch with the podium placings, but my overall position in the championship has improved”.

Alexz lies in a clear second place nearly ten points ahead of the third position with five rounds to go, and two to drop, he is however a long way from Browny who will have the championship wrapped up probably in the Czech Republic.

Loris Gubian

Ce week-end s'est déroulé le Grand prix d'Italie à Erba près du lac de Come. Dès les reconnaissances, les pilotes vont découvrir des très belles zones, techniques, et certaines vraiment très dures.

Le premier tour, va bien se passer et Loris fera peu de fautes, il prendra la deuxième place. Après un bref casse croûte, il repart très motiver pour son second tour. Sa moto marche
bien, et il se sent bien. Comme au premier tour, Loris laissera la victoire à Mike Brown. Il va monter sur la seconde marche du podium pour son dernier grand prix de la saison.

Comme vous savez, Loris roule depuis le début de saison avec un grave problème au genou gauche. Les différentes visites chez le médecin et chirurgien ont permises de diagnostiquer un arrachement des ligaments croisés et un écrasement du ménisque. Le chirurgien avait autorisé Loris à continuer si il ne se sentait pas trop gêné par la douleur, et surtout de ne pas rechuter sur ce genou fragile car les conséquences pourraient être catastrophiques pour la suite de sa carrière. Et il fallait programmer une opération dès que possible en tenant compte du fait qu'il fallait compter au moins six mois d'interruption.

Mais la compétition à ce niveau est dure, et Loris a serré les dents depuis le début de saison et s'est refait mal à plusieurs reprises, et la douleur est maintenant trop présente. Loris a eu un long entretien avec T. MICHAUD, les médecins de la fédération et ses partenaires, la décision a été prise, il faut arrêter la saison et se faire opérer. Cela va donner à Loris le temps de récupérer, et de se rééduquer dans les meilleures conditions afin d'être opérationnel pour la saison 2008.

« Cette décision a été très difficile à prendre pour moi, car arrêter en pleine saison alors que j'ai bien démarré en championnat Expert, même si j'ai un peu plus de mal au Mondial, je suis quand même troisième au général après l'Italie pour ma première saison avec le 2,9. Je ne vais pas rouler pendant 6 mois, je suis fou, mais c'est plus raisonnable pour l'avenir.

J'ai tous mes partenaires qui me suivent pour la saison 2008, et je vais tout faire pour revenir au top la saison prochaine. Je les remercie ainsi que tous mes proches qui me soutiennent, A bientôt dans les zones »

C'est donc le 4 juillet que Loris se fera opérer du genoux et dès la semaine suivante il va intégrer un centre de rééducation pour sportifs de haut niveau pour 3 ou 4 semaines.
