ADAM RAGA (GAS GAS), SEGUNDO EN POLONIA

Dani Oliveras y GAS GAS, nuevos líderes del mundial Júnior

Myslenice (Polonia), 9 de julio de 2006.– Ha terminado la novena cita puntuable para el Campeonato del Mundo de Trial en la que Adam Raga (GAS GAS) ha conseguido de nuevo estar entre los mejores siendo segundo justo por detrás de Takahisa Fujinami, pero manteniendo con firmeza su posición de líder a falta sólo de tres pruebas para cerrar el certamen 2006. Por su parte, Dani Oliveras (GAS GAS) se ha impuesto sobre Dani Gibert, victoria que le otorga el liderato en el mundial de trial Júnior.

Esta prueba se ha resuelto de una manera un poco rara, ya que Adam Raga y Takahisa Fujinami (finalmente ganador) han llegado a la meta empatados a puntos de penalización, situación que suponía un nuevo triunfo para el líder del certamen ya que aventajaba al de Montesa por ceros. No obstante un error en un control ha acabado dándole la victoria al japonés; de nada ha valido la reclamación que ha puesto el equipo GAS GAS, aunque Raga sigue manteniendo su status de líder, con 149 puntos en su haber, 15 más que Fujinami.

Jeroni Fajardo, el otro piloto oficial de la escuadra gerundense, ha sido sexto en un trial muy difícil, repleto de zonas de tierra con surcos, la mayoría en subida y con distintas variantes de agua.

Quien si estaba muy satisfecho con su actuación era Daniel Oliveras, que hoy se ha impuesto en el apartado junior que ya lidera. Gibert ha sido segundo y Michel Brown tercero, las mismas posiciones que los tres pilotos defienden en la general. La próxima cita puntuable para el mudial de la especialidad tendrá lugar el domingo, 30 de julio en Hawstone Park (Gran Bretaña).

Marc Freixa (5º) logra su mejor resultado del año.

No ha sido una jornada positiva para Toni Bou la vivida hoy en el GP de Polonia de Trial. En una prueba dura y físicamente muy exigente, Toni Bou se levantaba indispuesto y conforme avanzaba la jornada veía como sus fuerzas iban de más a menos, no pudiendo hacer nada por lograr un resultado a la altura de su nivel.

Bou ha finalizado sexto en el primer giro, aunque a tan solo dos puntos del cuarto clasificado en una prueba que de nuevo ha estado marcada por la igualdad entre los pilotos de cabeza. Sin embargo, mientras la mayoría de sus rivales rebajaba como es habitual su puntuación de forma clara en la segunda vuelta, el piloto de Beta Trueba no lo hacía con la misma progresión, finalizando la prueba séptimo, resultado que además le hace perder dos puestos en la provisional.

Mejor le han ido las cosas a Marc Freixa, quien poco a poco va recuperando su mejor forma, acabando quinto en este Trial de Polonia, lo que supone su mejor clasificación en el Mundial de este año.

Toni Bou: “Ha sido una carrera para olvidar. Me he levantado bastante débil y conforme avanzaba el trial las cosas han ido a peor. Era además un trial muy físico y en estas condiciones poco podía hacer. Lo peor es que perdemos dos puestos en la general, aunque la distancia es mínima y confío en recuperar en las próximas citas.”

Albert Cabestany - Sherco Team

Albert Cabestany sigue en etapa de recuperación en el Campeonato del Mundo de Trial, en el que ha obtenido un nuevo podium en la novena prueba puntuable para el mismo, disputada en la localidad polaca de Myslenice.

Una vez más la igualdad ha sido la nota dominante entre los pilotos de cabeza. Albert Cabestany ha finalizado el primer giro como líder, aunque empatado a puntos con el japonés Takahisa Fujinami. Ambos pilotos han mantenido el duelo hasta el final de la prueba, sumándoseles Adam Raga, finalizando la prueba con Fujinami delante, con solo un punto menos que Raga y Cabestany, aunque el piloto de Sherco ha tenido que ceder la segunda plaza al haber marcado un cero menos que su rival. Un resultado que sin embargo permite a “Cabes” recuperar un puesto en la provisional, en detrimento de Toni Bou quien hoy ha finalizado en una discreta séptima plaza.

Albert Cabestany: “Una vez más hemos estado delante y una vez más la victoria se ha escapado por muy poco. Estoy satisfecho por como han ido las cosas y por comprobar que ya estamos al nivel de los mejores, aunque estaría mucho más contento si lo pudiera celebrar con una victoria.”

Dougie Lampkin Team

World Outdoor Trials Championship. Myslenice, Poland. Round 7 Day 1 Sunday (1 day event) 09/07/06

Dougie Lampkin could only manage fourth place today at the Polish Grand Prix held in the town of Myslenice, with sits approximately thirty kilometres South of the city of Krakow. Lampkin never recovered from a poor first lap showing, and despite a much-improved performance during the afternoon session the British rider could not climb any further up the leader board.

Lampkin's latest results sees him drop to third place in the overall standings, his Repsol Montesa HRC team mate Takahisa Fujinami now having moved one point ahead of him after the Japanese rider won his second Grand Prix in a row. Dougie now sits eight points ahead of Cabestany, after the Sherco rider moved up a place following Antonio Bou's shocking seventh place today.

With Poland having been absent from the World series for over a decade, the return was always going to show if this was a worthy re-appointment and if it will be a regular Grand Prix in the future. The organising club did little to help their chances in this respect as they first refused to alter several sections on the advice both of the riders and the jury members. Eventually adjustments were made to the hazards, so as to create a reasonable competition.

Extremely hot weather was the order of the day for the third Grand Prix in a row, temperatures of thirty five degrees Celsius were recorded throughout the trial. With the exception of the final man made section, the other hazards were all housed in a dark and dense woodland just outside of the town. Steep climbs from a slow running stream created a theme that was repeated for the entire course.

Whilst Lampkin played down the injury he suffered to his ribs during a practice crash in Italy earlier in the week, the lasting effects obviously were a factor in his result today. "It's been another disappointing day, where a bad first lap performance has cost me dearly. I hit my ribs again in section two and this put me in a lot of discomfort. Wearing the body support helped to take away some of the pain, but the downside to this was that it made breathing quite difficult, which was hard to cope with in the heat. All I can do now is look forward to my home GP in a few weeks, and hope that it will mark the start of a strong close to the championship for me."

James Dabill - Top Trial Team

World Trials Championship Round 6 - 09/07/06. Myslenice, Poland.

James Dabill's ongoing battle with Polish rider Tadeusz Blazusiak for eighth place in the World championship continued in Myslenice, Poland earlier today. Dabill placed a reasonable ninth position at this the seventh round of the series, but had no answer to Balzusiak as he took full advantage at his home GP to finish eighth today. Tadeusz now moves back into eight spot in the overall standings, just one point ahead of James.

A victory at yesterday's European event held at the same venue, put Dabill in a confident mood as he went into today's World competition. With a starting position ahead of his main rivals, James had to adopt the role as trail blazer, as he became the furthest rider through many of the early sections, and recorded the first cleans in some of the other difficult hazards.

Although the dense and dark wood, that was home to fourteen out of the fifteen sections, shielded the riders from the direct sun light, there was no way of reducing the temperature that sat at thirty five degrees Celsius for most of the day. The final section was a man made affair, whilst the remainder of the sections all featured steep climbs and descents from the same slippery stream-bed.

Dabill's second lap performance benefited from being able to use the now established lines, with him reducing his lap score from forty eight marks down to a very respectable thirty nine marks given the difficult conditions.

Although slightly disappointed at being beaten by his close rival Balzusiak, Dabill realised it was always going to be an up hill task to defeat the Polish rider on home soil.

"Ninth is not a disaster, but it would have been nice to have beaten Tadeusz at his home round, although that was never going to be easy. He has had his home GP and I have still got mine to come, so I will be looking to make full advantage of riding at Hawkstone Park in front of my home fans."

Poland UEM and WTC 8&9 July 2006

Alexz Wigg (125 Gas Gas Pro Racing) produced another good performance following on from his recent successes. On Saturday in Poland for the penultimate round of the UEM European Junior 125 Championship he won convincingly on the tough and technical course set in a stream valley close to Myselince. With the best first lap of 11 marks lost, he continued to improve posting a second lap of an outstanding 4 marks lost the only rider in single figures. Without a five all day, posting 20 cleans this ride was perhaps his best win recently, “no big mistakes and finishing a good few places in front of rival Gubian has made next weeks last round a bit easier” said Alexz. Making no big mistakes was the key to the win. The other British lads managed to get some good results, Ross Danby (Gas Gas) was second and Lee Sampson was fifth, leaving Gubian in Sixth. The Championship positions are now Alexz on 92, and Gubian second with 76, Gratterola is 3rd on 60.

Alexz Wigg (125 Gas Gas Pro Racing) continued winning on Sunday this time by the narrowest of margins in the WTC. A completely different event after overnight easing of several sections from the previous days UEM championship, the trial became almost as much a battle of nerves as all sections although tough and technical could be cleaned. Alexz rose to the challenge and completed his first lap loosing no marks at all, posting the best lap score yet again. The closest rider was championship rival Loris Gubian on 2, which gave no room for error on the second lap. Casting away a dab early on the second lap left no room for further errors. A wobble on section 7 gave cause for concern and the tension mounted until the last difficult section, number 14, which he cleaned in style, to great applause! As usual the final stadium section was man made and indoor in style but despite the tricky exit another clean followed and the win was secured with a card of only one mark. “ today was very difficult after the sections were eased. There was too many alterations and a five anywhere would have been a disaster. I was very steady in the sections but did get slack at the beginning of the second lap. The most important thing is the extra 3 points I have got back in the championship over the leader, but in reality I have to win the last 3 rounds” said Alexz. This result leaves him in 3rd position, but there are 2 rounds to drop in the final standings.
